The CARR wildfire in Redding, California, has set a total of 1,555 homes
and buildings a blaze.
According to a report, human activity led to the wildfire starting on July 23, 2018.
The wildfire has covered 125,842 acres of land, forced 38,000 people to leave their homes, and has led to the deaths of 6 people.
Due to the number of structures, 1,555, that have been destroyed, the CARR wildfire has been ranked as the 6th most destructive wildfire in California’s history.
The TUBBS wildfire, which is still under investigation, is the most destructive wildfire in the state’s history. The wildfire started back in October 2017. There were a 5,636 structures destroyed and 22 people lost their lives.
Governor Jerry Brown spoke to the media about how the state is handling the CARR wildfire. NBC Los Angeles quoted Brown as saying, “Whatever resources are needed, we’re putting them there. We’re being surprised. Every year is teaching the fire authorities new lessons. We’re in uncharted territory.”
The wildfire, which has cost the state $125 million, has taken up almost 25% of the state’s budget that goes towards handling wildfires.
As a result of the remaining threat posed by the wildfire, the National Park Service has closed Yosemite Valley and surrounding areas.
